The Southern Drag Boat Association Returns to Its Roots for an Exciting 2027 Season
The Southern Drag Boat Association (SDBA) is proud to announce that the SDBA is officially back for 2027! After months of hard work and planning, the organization has reached an agreement to secure all of the equipment necessary to operate a full race series, marking a major milestone in the return of one of drag boat racing's most recognized names.
The leadership team has spent the past two years evaluating the sport, listening to racers, and building a stronger foundation for the future. Now, the focus turns toward delivering exciting, competitive events while staying true to what made the SDBA great in the first place: grassroots drag boat racing.
"We are going back to our grassroots racing. Travis and I learned a lot these past 2 years and are excited to be back at the helm for 2027." Said Cody Childress Co-Owner of the SDBA.
While the complete 2027 schedule is still being finalized, work is already underway to secure ace locations and build a strong season of competition. Racer membership, entry fees and othe Fees are expected to be similar to 2025 levels, although final details are still being developed.
The SDBA is also exploring the possibility of a co-points series with KDBA, creating additional opportunities for racers and fans throughout the region. More information on that potential partnership will be released as discussions progress.
This is just the beginning. More announcements regarding race dates, venues, classes, sponsorships, and competitor information will be coming soon.
